Our wish for the Weir's

Donation protected
Evie Grace Weir was born on the 31st July 2011 to the proud parents of Josh and Sarah Weir and adoring big sisiter Alicia. In August 2013, at just 2 years of age precious little Evie was diagnosed with Stage 4
Neuroblastoma. This meant she had a primary tumor in her abdomen, plus many other spots around her body, and it was also in her bone marrow. The Weir family were told to get ready for a marathon.

Neuroblastoma is the third most common childhood cancer. It is the highest cause of death from cancer in children five and under and while the survival rate is currently 50% that goes down drastically if the child relapses.

Between Aug 2013 and Dec 2017 Evie and her family have faced treatment including -
*4 major surgeries
*countless rounds of chemotherapy
*bone marrow transplants
*copious amounts of radiation
*numerous sessions of immunotherapy
*CT scans
*blood tests
*trialed new drugs
*injection after injection and much more.

Life has had so many highs and lows for this family and they have fought with inspirational faith. With each relapse it was so hard to watch them being thrust back into the world they thought was behind them. They turned to God throughout the journey and He equipped them to hold on tightly to each other and face each challenge as it arose. The love they have for each other is so heartwarming and the girls are such a credit to Josh and Sarah, they truly are the most beautiful children you could ever wish to meet.

Over the past few weeks the Weir's have been devestated to find out the tumor in Evie's head is worse, and she has disease in several of her bones. Her little body is riddled with cancer, which means the trial drug did not work. There are no more curative options available and it will take an enormous miracle at this point. The family are heartbroken, disappointed, and exhausted. They say their focus now "is to get on top of Evie's pain, make her as comfortable as possible and keep her out of hospital."

Can I please stress to you that Evie and Alicia don't know all the details, just what they need to know at this time. Their parents have requested that we all be mindful and respectful of this, especially if you or your children are in contact with Evie or Alicia.

Amongst all this chaos and heart wrenching pain the family have always thought of others and not once asked for money or help. They started "Evie's Army" to participate in the Run2Cure Neuroblastoma. The Weir's have raised thousands of dollars over multiple occasions in support of this wonderful cause.
In addition Sarah has hosted several "High Tea's for a High Cause" to raise funds for the Kids Cancer Project. She has raised considerable funds to support a project so close to her heart. In her blog she says, " I have found fundraising to be a very rewarding and healing project. To know that I am doing something for the greater good that will potentially help children and families in the future is very powerful."

If you are like me and find yourself thinking, "I wish there was something I could do to help." THERE IS!!
After all they have done for others let's bless this family with money to be able to enjoy special time together this festive season,to ease the financial burden and to have the funds to meet their needs throughout this enormously challenging time.

For anyone unable to contribute financially there are other ways you could help the wonderful Weir family. Please consider:
-  Pray as we believe with the family that God performs mighty miracles
-  Donating blood and plasma
-  SHARING THIS LINK TO GENERATE AS MUCH SUPPORT AS WE POSSIBLY CAN

I want to conclude with a message from Sarah's sister, Evie's beautiful aunt that has touched my heart so deeply:
"Lift us up in prayer, but pray for peace. Pray we remain in that place where we are still and we are trusting in Him. Pray we are present with each other and can love and support each other through this time. Pray we don't go to fear but remain in love.

Please also thank God for the rain that is coming. Tell yourself you can hear the sound of heavy rain. With a heavy rain after a drought comes relief, restoration, growth, peace. Thank God for that. We believe it is coming.

Also pray we can process all the emotions we are feeling, and process the reality of what we see while still hearing that rain. Pray we can be gentle on ourselves, and feel His grace in every moment.

One more thing before I go. God showed me two paths, one where Evie lives a long life here on earth, and one where Evie goes to be with Jesus and He asked me to process the path where Evie goes to be with Jesus. At first I was unsure why He would ask me that, but I realised, as I did start to process it, that there is so much wisdom in believing for the "healing here on earth" path while still giving myself the room and grace to process the "what if" path. The reason being is because I understood, after processing that path, that I would still trust in Him. If the outcome looks different to what I was hoping for that does not take away from all that I believe. I also realised that God wanted me to process my emotions around the "what if" because I had been so numb to the thought of it, and it actually released a new level of trust, hope, love, understanding, empathy and wholesomeness in me. It also allowed me to cry, and be broken before God, feel His love and get back up again. God is a good God, and He works to bring out the good in every situation when we trust in Him. We can not just seek an outcome, we have to seek Him, trust Him. There are no words to magically make this easier and there is no formula to make it all better. But God is in the detail. He is there in every hard moment, He is there to help us process every emotion. He is there to help us walk every path. And the bigger picture is something we can never fully understand while here on this earth.

Thank you Jesus for the healing work the cross has already done. Thank you Lord that Evie is healed and the rain is coming. Amen xx"
