Wish You Well Film - Mental Health Awareness

Donation protected
Hello! Thank you for checking out my Go Fund Me campaign! Let's get down to it!

September is Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month. Each year for the past three years, I have walked in The Out Of The Darkness Walk hosted by The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to raise awareness for mental health, depression and suicide prevention. It has been an incredible honor to fundraise for AFSP in the past, and I will continue to do so, as this is a foundation I truly believe is bettering lives, and making change.

Over the past several months I have been writing a short film titled "Wish You Well." The film is centered around the topics of mental health, bullying and alcohol abuse. The film follows the story of Hope Oliver, a girl who faces severe bullying in school, a toxic home environment with an alcoholic mother, and grieves the loss of her older sister, who is her biggest role model and supporter in life. This film dives deep inside the mindset of a depressed person, as it follows Hope through her experiences, and encounters. This "not so happy ending" film spreads an important message and brings awareness to these topics. The film highlights the importance of a healthy and positive home and school environment for children as they move into adulthood. Having a support system is vital; it may even be the difference between life and death in Hope's case.

This film is based on real life experiences complied from myself and many other's personal stories. Growing up, I suffered from and endured severe bullying for my weight, sexuality, appearance, and even just for simple things, like speaking in class. Many days I have felt alone and lost. Now, going into my 20's, I am incredibly passionate about and devoted to addressing these issues. No child should go through this fight alone. It is essential that we break down the stigmas around mental health, and encourage those who are struggling to seek help when they need it, because life is worth living. This is something I didn't see for a very long time. I am creating this film to raise awareness to these subjects and to help drive positive change, as well as support AFSP. No matter who you are or your story, mental illness, bullying, and/or alcohol abuse has likely touched you, a loved one or someone you know.

So, where will your money go?     Moving forward, we are ready to begin the filming and production process. We need funds to hire crew, to rent shooting locations, renting the proper equipment, and bringing the film to life, overall. All of these things add up very quickly and we are currently working with a limited budget. Any support you are able to provide is greatly appreciated! Donations of $100 or more will receive a special thanks in the credits of our film.

A percentage of all funds raised in this campaign will go to AFSP- The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.

Thank you for reading my campaign. I appreciate your support and thank you for your contribution. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign on your social media! Together, we will bring this film to life, and help make change in our community!
