WISH FOR A WELL

Donation protected
As some of you know from our story of visiting Laos, we were very touched by the simplicity and openness of the beautiful people of this country.  Although they live a life absent of the things we take for granted, they exhibited an openness in their hearts and homes at every opportunity and always made us feel appreciated and welcomed.  One village in particular captured us, it was a small village of approximately 380 people.  The level of poverty is truly eye-opening, the children attending the primary school grades 1-3, had two rooms and no running water and very primitive outhouses (2). The ground was dirt, there was no playground equipment and most shocking, no running water.  These children arrived to school with dirty hands and faces, with no opportunity to wash their hands or brush their teeth, leaving them open to disease and tooth decay and all it's contributing health issues.  We met with the Chief of the Village to discuss the most pertinent and urgent issues regarding this.  The Chief of course prefers to correct the problem at it's core, which is the need to build a well for the village.  The water will then be piped up to the school, where a washing trough will be built by local trades and the children will be able to receive fresh water in the morning to wash and brush teeth, monitored by the teachers.  The funds that we are collecting will go directly toward this venture and will be coordinated through our local contact,  (in conjunction with the Chief).   The local trades and sourcing of materials will also be coordinated through our contact ensuring everything is locally based and affordable.  We will receive updates on accounting, pictures of development and an invitation to attend a village celebration in our (all contributors) honour.
Any support at all, has a payback beyond our imagination.  Healthy children getting an education paves the way for an escape from this poverty.  Education is THE most important thing to these people, and they will sacrifice everything to provide that to their children.  Kerry and I are very committed to this cause and we graciously ask for your help to take the first step.  Please PM me if you have any questions.  We are setting a goal for the funds of April 15th, 2018.  Once funds are received, they plan to break ground by May 01st and complete the project by the fall.
Thank you, your support means everything!
