Hello, my name is Misty & I have a dear friend who’s a very special soul, Teresa Wirtz, who has had a significant amount of health struggles & she is working hard to get more answers to her health questions & treatments to what she’s facing. I’ll add all a copy of the report that she made for me in order to help me explain their situation better for y’all right here & the part that I feel is the most important part to be read since she can say it way better than me with her beautiful heart & all the important emotions that you can tell they are facing. After her report I’ll add more from me...

About 6 months ago, I began to notice that I was having trouble concentrating, sleeping, standing for long periods, moving my hands without a lot of pain and gaining weight suddenly.
This came on slowly at first, and then all in one week I was absolutely miserable. I hurt all over and my fingers were swollen at the knuckles and joints. My face was always red across my nose and cheeks and I got feverish in the sun or any bright lights. Even grocery shopping was torture that continued to hurt for hours after I sat down at home. My legs and feet would swell and burn like fire for hours after lying down if I was on my feet for extended periods. Remember this all happened so fast.
My doctor initiated testing for Lupus based on the “malar” rash on my face and elevated white blood cell count. We had an MRI to rule out a brain tumor also since I also lost hearing in the right ear. The initial diagnosis of Lupus SLE, Mixed auto immune and Rheumatoid arthritis was reached after this testing. Positive ANA and other markers.
We didn’t understand how I got so sick that quickly. I began treatment of Planquenil and severe diet changes. Eliminated soy, sugar, honey, corn, wheat, nightshades, rice, potatoes (except sweet), processed foods, gluten, sodas, tea, caffeine (except 1 coffee per day), dairy and all fast foods. This did result in a large weight loss, but did not achieve the desired result of halting the allergic and immune responses. My body continued to attack itself.
Example – I got a small cut on my thumb that should have healed within 2 days. Instead, my thumb doubled in size and got blisters that took over 2 weeks to finally resolve. I had a fever and joint pain this entire time. This happens with every small injury.
In the last 3.5 months, my memory is much worse. I have increased fatigue and absolutely no energy for other than basic tasks. I have cut out most every activity because I feel so awful after any expenditure of energy. This is taking a huge toll on my family and we must find an answer soon. I feel like I lose a little more of me everyday.
Joseph and I are self employed owners of Lighthouse Educational Products and Lighthouse Geodes, Rocks and Minerals. We are both veterans of the U.S. Air Force and were always self reliant and took care of ourselves and our family without help. Unfortunately, I can’t do it anymore without some help getting answers.
Joseph is carrying the load on his own and we have 5 children at home 18, 15, 13, 11, and 10. Our oldest is graduating this year and needs me more than ever. The children ask every morning where I hurt and if we can do anything today. Joseph is not only losing me in our family, but also as his business partner. I don’t remember conversations or plans and sometimes can’t complete the simplest tasks that I have done for years. Other times, like now I am aware of the extent of what happening, and I am scared.
I convinced my doctor to test for Lyme and we are waiting on results. We had lung x-rays, ultrasounds on my kidneys due to increased pain and elevated white blood cell issues. Meanwhile, based on the blood work, my rheumatologist is backing off Lupus and calling this mixed auto immune complex. That’s really only saying that my body is fighting itself, but we don’t know why.
So, I am ready to test for anything that might bring us some answers. Conventional medicine will continue to push meds that aren’t helping. My next option offered in Methotrexate (immune system blocker). I will be susceptible to everything on this. If that doesn’t work then a chemo type drug… I don’t feel like I can waste any more time.

The reason I felt compelled to start this campaign, besides the fact that I feel we should help each other when we can, is because her family’s income comes from them working for themselves as basically two small businesses...you can read more about their situation above, in her report. They, unfortunately, have basically no insurance & anyone who’s ever been to the doctor knows that even the simplest condition can lead to a severe medical bill debt, even with insurance. When you face chronic health issues & the numerous tests involved for diagnosing them, plus all treatments, all of the return visits & specialists, the experimental treatments, any surgeries or emergency visits, possibly for life, depending on what the condition(s) is/are, financial issues become a real concern & is an extra addition to the struggles faced that should be unnecessary & can be unnecessary if all the people who knows the Wirtz family was to even provide a dollar in order to help them...or, even if you can’t do this, prayers, love, good energy, help with duties, help with providing for their children, ANYTHING is a welcome blessing & you will be repaid for your kindness because kindness is always repaid in some way or another, in life &/or afterwards. This could be any one of us because nobody is promised their health or their life. Also, as far as the reason for helping this family, who is always eager to help others, provide prayers & love, & be kind to others...the people being affected is the beautiful soul, Teresa, her loving husband, Joseph (BOTH OF WHICH SERVED OUR COUNTRY PROUDLY), & their FIVE AMAZING CHILDREN...anyone who’s ever even heard of them could probably tell their own story, or 20 lol, about how special & deserving this family is of our support & love.
I ask that you please find it in your heart to try to help this family in some way. All funds/contributions will go straight to her & her family & go towards medical care of all kinds, including tests, treatments, & anything that contributes to their livelihood as they endure numerous medical bills, doctor visits, the loss of income that will probably come at least for a significant period of time, etc. Remember, this is for a family of SEVEN that is so close & that all have a heavy load to carry & have done a wonderful job up to now due to their love for each other...this is hopefully just a wrench in the works & we pray that with everyone’s help they’ll be back as they were or close depending heavily on answers from doctors & advancements in treatments/cures. You can literally donate the tiniest amount (a dollar is wonderful) & if you want to be anonymous, you can choose that also. The possible diagnosis that she may receive & the treatment could be very significant. I put the “goal” amount as it is just not to overwhelm anyone. I’m sure that medical costs will come to way, way more, so please don’t stop at that goal. As an example, even with insurance, I’ve had a few tests to come to almost $5,000. The sooner we can get funds to this precious family the better because they already have had numerous tests & treatments.
