Wir Edinburgh Half Marathon
Donazione protetta
We, a group of non-runners, have set to take on the challenge to run the Edinburgh Half Marathon in May 2019. We have decided to do this because in May this year my peerie cousin, Davie Smith, was diagnosed with stage four Burkitt’s lymphoma. Davie and his mam and dad have been in Aberdeen since then while receiving intensive treatment and his siblings have been at home in Lerwick attending school. Thankfully, all Davie’s recent tests have come back clear so we hope their family will soon be reunited at home in Lerwick.
We really want to raise funds for two great charities which gave been a huge support to Davie’s family during this difficult time. Firstly, The Archie Foundation (Aberdeen Branch), the official charity of Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital who make a difference for sick children when they are in hospital or require long-term medical treatment. We have asked for any money we raise to be spent on the parent accommodation, to support any family who require to be away from home for any length of time at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. Secondly, CLIC Sargent (Young Lives v Cancer), who fight tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives by working with families to help get them vital financial support, providing Homes from Home close to hospitals where families can stay during treatment, work with schools on the child or young person’s behalf, provide bereavement support and raise awareness of children and young people’s experiences.
Please help us raise as much as we can for these amazing charities that the family could not have coped without. Anything you can donate will be gratefully appreciated!
Thank you,
Arianne, Crystal, Garry, Jan & Marlene
