UPDATE ... Four days of work compressed!

SUCCESS STORY! The wolf capture and relocation project that NPLSF & International Wolf Center are funding has been a huge success!

Six wolves that remained on Michipicoten Island, Ontario, and one wolf from mainland Ontario, were captured, vet checked, and transported to Isle Royale National Park for release last Friday, 3/22 and Saturday, 3/23.

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry approved the privately funded (by NPLSF & IWC) operation on Monday, March 18th.

By Friday morning it was "game on" with the OMNRF, US National Park Service, and the Bighorn Helicopters' capture team working together to make it happen.

To say there was no time wasted in accomplishing the mission would be an understatement!

Unlike in several earlier attempts, the weather cooperated, enabling the capture team and the OMNRF transport team to fit four days of effort and resources into two days. We couldn't be happier with the outcome - all seven new wolves are now on Isle Royale!

Due to the amount of human hours and aircraft hours it took to accomplish the mission, the cost of the project was not reduced.

We are still actively seeking donations to help fund this amazingly successful endeavor. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and share this opportunity to help with others as well.   While an additional day was not added, additional resources went spent on the compressed schedule - and the aircraft expense expanded.

Thank you to all of the current donors to this project - you've helped make sure it happened and we can't thank you enough!

Original Post:

There is an amazing effort scheduled for this weekend and you can help make it even more successful!

Help us ensure success of moving additional wolves to Isle Royale while saving the wolves from starvation on Michipicoten Island.

This $100,000 project is already underway with the National Parks of Lake Superior Foundation and the International Wolf Center joining forces to already secure $75,000 in funding.

An additional $25,000 needs to be secure by Saturday, March 23, midnight to add another day of operations!

Can you help us boost this effort to help this win-win project?   Win for Michipicoten wolves who face starvation; Win for Isle Royale wolves to boost their pack and provide better ecosystem balance.

If goal is not reached, funds will be directed to related wolf projects on Isle Royale
