Winter K2 in 2020
K2, the second highest mountain in the world doesn’t need any introduction. The mountain was first climbed in July 31, 1954 by Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli and the record of summiteers reached approximately 460 by 2019 followed by 84 deaths but never been topped in winter. The winter history on K2 shows 6 different years of attempts in the past. And K2 is the only 8000ers remained to be climbed in winter. Winter is a time of low barometric pressure which means less oxygen pressure. The temperature can drop below -60·C. The legendary climber, Reinhold Messner described K2 as “The Mountain Of Mountains”. The mountain is deadly itself and climbing in winter has to face strong and cold wind in extremely low temperature.
This winter we are planning to give one try from our side and we are very positive to make it to summit. We have made one of the best team to make it successful. Currently our obstacle is our funding. We have contributed ourselves but it is still not enough because this is winter plan and we really need everything go perfect in order not to fail this plan. We will use Abruzzi route for winter 2020 and our estimated camp will be like this;
Base Camp: 17,716ft/5400m
Camp 1: 19,684ft/6000m
Camp 2: 21,981ft/6700m
Camp 3: 24,606ft/7500m
Camp 4: 26,095ft/7954m
Summit: 28,251ft/8611m
We are planning to enter Pakistan in first week of January 2020 though our plan was in December and then complete the expedition by end of February which will be true winter climb. 28th February 2020 will be our deadline of our expedition as we don't want to have arguments about our climb in winter. Our team is very perfect to go for winter climb.
And here we are;
1. Mingma G
Mingma G started his climbing career in 2006 and already climbed K2 in 2014 and 2017. This will be his 3rd time on K2 and WIN-TER has beautiful meaning with his climb. If he WIN on K2 in this WIN-TER then it will be his third (TER) summit on K2.
2. John Snorri
John comes from Iceland. He has summited K2 (8611m) in 2017. He also made his feet on Lhotse 8516m, Manaslu 8163m, Broad Peak fore summit 8047m and technically famed Ama Dablam 6812m.
3. Gao Li
The Chinese climber Li has climbed Manaslu (8163m) in 2016, Everest(8848m) in 2018, Lhotse(8516m) and Makalu(8463m) in 2019. He has also attempted K2 in 2019.
4. Sirbaz Khan
Sirbaz Khan started his climbing career in 2016 from K2 and he has made to summit of K2 8611m, Lhotse 8516m,Nanga Parbat 8125m, Manaslu 8163m and Broad Peak 8047m.
5. Tamting
Tamting is one of the most strongest and experienced climber in our team. He has Everest8848m-12 times summit, Cho Oyu-8201m-7 times summit, Lhotse-8516m-2 times, Manaslu-4 times, Broad Peak-8047m-1time summit, Gasherbrum-II-8035m-1 time summit and Sishapangma8013m-2 times summit. 6.Kilu Pemba Kilu Pemba is our another Strongest team member3. Kilu born at the altitude of 4200m has climbed Everest 8848m -11times, Mt Cho-oyu 8201m -Twice, Lhotse 8516m -Thrice, Dhaulagiri 8167m -Twice, Manaslu 8163m -Twice and Sishapangma 8027m -once. He has tried Lhotse via South Face in winter in 2004/05 and 2006/07 so he as also got winter experience.
Beside this we have two other members in option, if we are able to collect the estimated fund then we will pull them in which make us even stronger as team.
PROJECT NEED AND OBJECTIVES;
• K2 is the only 8000m mountain remained to climb in winter. So our main project is to climb this killer mountain in winter.
• K2 has been only climbed by 460 climbers till now though it is as popular as Everest.
• NO any Icelandic has ever climbed any winter 8000m peak
• No Chinese has ever climbed any winter 8000m peak.
• Pakistan has many images of terrorism but what you see in real Pakistan is completely different. Pakistan is beautiful country and many of world's population like to visit this country but they still have that threat which we heard or read on internet or newspaper. So this project will be focused on reflecting real Pakistan to outer world and make people feel safe to travel in Pakistan and enjoy Pakistan.
• During our climb we will raise our voice against global warming which is very serious issue. We are responsible for rapid global warming and ruining our home, The Earth. This issue has to be taken in serious consideration.
We believe everyone will enjoy reading our blog or news during our climb. We will be sharing enough pictures to feel you part of this climb. For all this, we need to collect enough fund so that we can go for this adventure. Therefore we request you all to help us donating our remained funding.
