Winter Help For The Homeless in NYC

In any northern city, winter is an especially difficult time for the homeless.  My family and I encounter the homeless every day here in NYC and it has become harder and harder to watch them go without even the most basic essentials, let alone an actual home.  So, last winter we began creating winter comfort packs for any homeless person we passed during the day or night.  They included a new pair of gloves, a new pair of warm winter socks, a new wool hat, tootpaste, toothbrush, deoderant, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, lip balm, moisturizing lotion, breath mints, tissue pack, soap, shampoo, and granola bars. We put all of these in one-gallon Zip Lock bags and carried two or three of them with us everywhere we went.  In just 8 weeks, we gave away almost 100 winter comfort packs.  The gratitude we experienced was unbelievable.  Now, we'd like to "scale up" and give out 400 winter comfort packs this winter.  The costs can get a bit high (about $13.00 per comfort pack), so we'd like to appeal to folks to help partially fund our 2017-2018 winter comfort packs...we will continue to cover most of the costs ourselves. The public's help would be deeply appreciated as my daughters, students, and I do what we can to make a NYC winter just a bit more bearable for the homeless.  Your help between November 26 and February 15 would be sincerely appreciated.
