Winter Appeal 2018

Help us raise £4000 this winter for new pig arks, an all singing all dancing goat paddock, and feed and bedding for all of our animals to keep them cozy through the winter months

Dear friends of FRIEND as well as food and bedding for the winter months we have 2 big projects that we need your help with before the coldness of the season sets in at the sanctuary! They’re big goals so hear us out!!!

Help us raise £4000 to go towards new pig arks and a goat paddock, before Christmas 2018, and here is our promise to you. We want to rescue more animals but need to know first that they will have the appropriate shelter that they need, so IF we achieve our £4000 goal before Christmas 2018 we will take in some new baby goats and a baby pig come the better weather in 2019… you heard it here first! So help us rescue them!!

Pig Arks

We have almost 40 pigs at our sanctuary. As winter 2018 approaches we are starkly aware that our current pig shelters are becoming less and let fit for purpose. Once spanking new, 15 years ago, they are now very old and very dilapidated. We need to be able to move pig arks around between seasons and these are now falling apart if we even nudge them. Some of the naughtier pigs have taken to sheltering in the chicken coops alongside the chickens, it’s cute, but chicken sheds really aren’t built for giant pig beings! We need about 10 new arks to keep our pigs warm, dry, cozy and sheltered through the harsher winter months and a single pig ark can cost as much as £400 if not more. Can you help?

Goat Paddock

At the moment we have 4 gorgeous goats at our sanctuary, Daphne & Dave, and Spring 2018 arrivals, Terri & Pashley. They are free to roam the sanctuary and are constantly found curled up in the pig shelters. Goats can suffer from foot rot if they don’t have adequate shelter in the rainy and snowy seasons, they need exercise and stimulation and a cozy dry place to sleep. From summer to autumn we love to see Dave, Daphne, Terri and Pashley roaming freely through the sanctuary 24/7, but come the harsher winter months they will need better shelter. At the moment they join the pigs in their dilapidated arks and sheds. With a goal of rescuing more goats we want to build an all singing all dancing goat paddock with warm cozy beds for them to sleep in, dry ground, a huge climbing deck, a trampoline, barrels and other fun toys for them to jump on and climb. Goats need stimulation to keep them happy and trim. Can you help?
