Winston the Westie needs your help!

Donation protected
Once upon a time, there was a Westie who loved to play.  He loved playing fetch with his KONG dog bone so much.  He became obsessed with it and wouldn't go hardly anywhere without it.  One day, his Mom had to go to work and leave him alone for the day.  Like she always does, she kenneled him in the bathroom clearing the floor of any trash, fabric, clothes, etc.  But little did she know that Winston the Westie had snuck his bone into the bathroom with him.  Naughty naughty boy!

His mom came home that night to find Winston vomiting, not wanting to eat, and lethargic. She took him to the vet and after two days of supportive care decided to get the X-ray to see if there was something more serious going on.  Poor, silly Winston the Westie... he had chewed off a piece of the dog bone and it had lodged in his intestine.  Because his Mom could not live without him and he is a huge part of her life, she had the emergency care team and veterinarian perform major abdominal surgery to remove the blockage.  Two days later Winston and Mom are home, resting, and recovering.  However, his Mom is now wondering and stressing out about how she will pay for the expensive surgery and care that he received and will continue to receive post-op.

The costs of the surgery and hospital stay were around $3600.  Any other follow up visits will add up quickly too--around $200 per visit.  We expect at least two more follow up appointments post surgery.  The hospital helped me open a line of credit to initially pay for the emergency.  However, it has to be paid off within 6 months (by July 31, 2018) to avoid any further financial fees.  I am in need of the $4000 to pay off the surgery costs and care for my baby for the next month at follow up appointments.

Winston has helped me through some of the darkest and most low points in my life-- including a civil but rather emotional divorce.  He has loved me unconditionally and I would (and have) do anything for his little soul.  He is the most happy dog I know and I hated to see him suffering.  By the grace of God, the educated veterinarians were able to save his life.  But in doing that, I have put myself into a large debt.  I am a single, public school teacher and do not have the income to provide for something unexpected like this.  So, while I know there are many more worthy causes out there, I would appreciate any help anyone can give.  I know my Winston would love you with lots of puppy kisses if he could thank you himself!
Post surgery.  Waiting to go home in the cone of shame!

The piece of the toy they took out of his intestine.  Pretty scary.

Surgical incision on Day 4.  Healing well.  Needs to be checked by our vet in a few days.

Winston as his normal happy self.  We are working towards getting back there quickly!
