This is my story.
Many of you know me from my 20-year endeavor with WineGirl Wines. But, many of you may not really know me that well, because I have kept my personal life pretty separate from the wine. Well, here is an opportunity to get to know me a little more intimately.
At the beginning of this year, I chose to sell my business because I wanted to spend more time with my daughter, the one true joy I have in my life, and pursue work that would be more compatible with being a single mother. Motherhood turned my life upside down and required re-evaluation of my time that I never could have foreseen. I am sure many of you can understand this kind of sacrifice of dreams.
But then, not even 3 months after breaking even on my business sale with the intent to find a new job, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 High Grade, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of my left breast. The tumor is the size of a large walnut. It is painful and it is spreading, and I am terrified.
Not only am I left in a lurch financially, I have been forced to put completing my family on hold again in order to undergo a year of surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation. Where I am confident that I will beat this silent killer with your support and the support of those whom I never would have guessed would be warriors on this mission with me, I am still falling significantly short as I embark on this journey.
I implore any of you who value Motherhood and Family and Good Health to consider a supporting donation to my new journey. In addition to the out-of-pocket health costs I have already encountered, I will be attempting egg freezing cycles and future fertility options as chemotherapy destroys the remaining eggs a woman has. I am so grateful for the opportunity to even consider freezing eggs in an attempt to complete my family, as this technology has only existed since 2012. Any and all additional donations will go to breast cancer research organizations and fertility programs for survivors.
