Help WHS Band Boosters Raise Funds for Hawaii Trip

The Wimberley High School Texan Marching Band Booster Club is raising money to help make the band's Spring trip to Hawaii more affordable to the students who are able to attend. WHS is the only school in the State of Texas invited to represent the State at the National Vietnam Veteran's Day parade in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 29, 2024.

The National Vietnam Veteran's Day Parade is held annually in Honolulu, Hawaii to pay tribute to those who served our nation for the cause of freedom and liberty during the Vietnam War. Wimberley will join marching bands, cheer and dance teams, and choirs from schools across the country to partake in this monumental event. The Marine Forces Pacific Band will lead the schools in playing "God Bless America" at the opening ceremonies of the parade on Friday, March 29th, 2024. Wimberley will then march with the parade through the heart of iconic Waikiki, performing for tens of thousands of spectators from around the world. Then, on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024 Wimberley will be granted the additional honor of playing a Tribute Performance at the USS Battleship Missouri. This Tribute Performance allows the Wimberley Band to perform in honored remembrance of those who have made this country free in the best way they know how.

The honor of being chosen to represent the State of Texas in this historic event is something the Wimberley High School Band cannot begin to adequately express. The students and directors are humbled by this opportunity to represent our great State in such a historic way.

For most of the Wimberley Band students, this trip will be the trip of a lifetime, with a price tag to match. Each student will be required to raise $2,200 in order to go on the trip, which includes their airfare, hotel and all of the sponsored events, some of which include meals. The amount to raise per student doesn't include things like spending money, additional meals and souvenirs, plus any additional excursions or sightseeing the group may choose to do. As one can imagine the idea of raising these types of funds can seem daunting, especially for those families who have multiple students in band. All funds raised through this GoFundMe will be divided amongst the students who have signed up to go. Our overall goal, however, is to raise enough funds to not only help buy down the trip for each student already signed up by at least $500, but to also help provide scholarships for a few student's whose families would never be able to afford the trip otherwise.
