Wilson Crew Giving Tuesday 2021 Campaign

Tax deductible
In conjunction with Wilson Crew's 35th Anniversary in 2020, the Wilson Crew Booster Executive Committee launched a 3-year Capital Campaign to achieve our vision of a nationally-ranked public high school rowing team that reflects the diversity of the nation’s capital.

A small group of anonymous donors is giving us the chance to take a big step toward our goal, with a challenge: this Thanksgiving 2021 through Giving Tuesday, they will match contributions to Wilson Crew up to $15,000. Can you help us meet this challenge?

This incredible opportunity would raise funds to provide our rowers necessary things our operating budget just can't cover. While our student athletes and their families are responsible for dues, travel fees, and team fundraisers – all while managing their academic success – the Capital Campaign is our community effort to fund scholarships for our student-athletes and replace aging equipment so our students can focus on what they do best.

What would this money pay for?
  • $1800 provides a student athlete a scholarship for one year
  • $1000 purchases a new erg so our rowers can practice even off the water
  • $250 buys one oar (in a set of eight)

And this Giving Tuesday, you can double your impact!

In addition to teaching students how to push their physical limits, Wilson Crew strives to teach our middle and high school rowers the value of hard work, accountability, teamwork, dedication, and commitment. Please consider what those values mean to you and what you can contribute to make this opportunity available to all.

Your contribution today contributes to our Giving Tuesday challenge!

Thank you for your support of our rowers and our program!

ABOUT WILSON CREW
Wilson Crew is a nationally ranked rowing program founded in 1985 with the assistance of Georgetown University. Beyond the physical and social benefits of participating in the ultimate team sport, rowing teaches discipline, teamwork, and time-management to our scholar-athletes. Wilson Crew, DC's only public school rowing team, won the 2019 SRAA National Championship in the men's V8. This fall, our Varsity Women won the Youth 4+ at the 2021 Head of the Charles.

We have a long history of athletes going on to compete at the highest level. Our students have been recruited to row for Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, the Naval Academy, Smith, Stanford, Syracuse, Temple, Tufts, UCLA, Univ of Delaware, Wisconsin, and Yale. We are also proud of Wilson alum Aquil Abdullah (Tiger '92), the first male Black American to row in the Olympics.
