Willows Historical marker

Donation protected
KelLee Parr, Carol Price, Jan Townsend and myself want to place a Missouri State Historical Marker at Union  Hill on Main Street in Kansas City.  It is a memorial to educate visitors about The Willows Maternity  Sanitarium, located on this historical property from 1908 until its closing in 1969.
It was a well-known home for unwed mothers, having 30,000+ patients from its beginning to the date it closed. Kansas City was the adoption hub of America and has many former patients, adoptees and adopters come to KC to see where their roots were formed. Like us, those connected to The Willows come to 2929 Main Street for this purpose, but since the hospital is gone there is nothing to mark its existence. This historical marker will tell the story.
We need to raise funds to pay for the casting of the marker, shipping, installation, and insurance. The marker is cast aluminum and made in Ohio by a company that produces most state historical markers. We want to unveil the marker in late September/early October 2020. Willows babies and interested parties are invited to participate in this fund raiser and to attend the unveiling. Your participation is crucial for the success of this project. Many thanks.
