Willowbrook Farms: Our Time to Grow

Tax deductible
Willowbrook Farms Animal Sanctuary - less than 12 months ago the name did not exist, but the dream did.

In December 2017, my husband lost his job and we started talking about our future.

In January 2018, we started to research how to become a not-for-profit animal sanctuary with my brother and his spouse.

In February 2018, we got our business license.

In April, 2018, we got our not-for-profit status.

and along the entire way, we have been rescuing animals like :

- Sheldon, the 30 yr old box turtle who, after his whole life in captivity, was going to be left in the wild.

- Willow, a hen of an egg laying species would would have been used and exploited for her egg production until the day it killed her.

- Penn, a rooster of an egg laying species who, by all rights and procedure, would have been killed within minutes of hatching.

- Harriet, a small Syrian hamster that was being tortured and neglected in a classroom until the day she could no longer walk. It was a teenager, my daughter, reached out to us to save her .

We are ready to save more lives- but that means we need more property.

We live within city limits and are unable to expand our rescue efforts until we expand our physical boundaries. We know with your help, we can make it happen.  We have found 3 potential properties in Indiana and are ready to start moving forward with making a purchase.

Every donation made to this GoFundMe campaign will go towards that purchase. Every donation made will go towards providing a home for animals that are in need - animals who are ready to tell their story to anyone who will listen.

Please, consider a tax deductible donation to Willowbrook. Every dollar helps make this happen, meaning no donation is too big or too small. If you are unable to donate, please share our campaign with your friends via Twitter and Facebook. And in the perfect world - do both!

God bless.

PS, everything from this point on is just sharing images from our efforts. All smiles all the time :)

Willow and our son, Alex goofin' off in the coop. She had several health issues early on but thankfully pulled through. Now she's a super healthy chick whose purpose isn't to lay eggs for our consumption - she eats bugs, aerates the ground, and brings us joy by being curious, loving, and goofy.

Sheldon is our resident turtle. He is a dapper fellow looking for about a 30 sq foot enclosure, indoor and outdoor. He is the face of leaving wild animals in their original habitat. Read his story here .

Mabel was an adopted rescue from PAWS in Jacksonville, IL. When we first brought the chicks home, we worried how a lady so big would take to birds so small - and she did. She still enjoys laying around the backyard with them, even though they are much larger now. Mabel has taken to every animal we have brought to WFAS ... even Sheldon the turtle! She is an amazing friend to the Farm and can show us all that it doesn't matter the species, love and caring is universal.

Its hard to see here, but this is Penn  sitting on my foot. He is such a lovable fellow. He enjoys being pet and talked too - and he is the official announcer for all who enter our back yard (his cock-a-doodle-doo is getting louder and louder). Its hard to see him as anything but a unique individual who cares for Willow, protects our backyard, and makes us laugh on a regular basis.
