PLEASE HELP WILLIAM aka WILLY WILL!

How quickly we learn that life can change in a blink!

William is a man of great faith who believes by the grace of God his life will be saved as he’s  fighting with everything he has.

William has lived his life with wholesome, healthy, habits and values. He has served the public in education at the Anaheim High School District for the past 30 years. He loves his employment and has a conscientious work attendance. Prior to the District employment William served in the Air Force, stationed in North Dakota, working on missiles. William has a passion for guitar playing, reading and writing music. He can identify just about any guitar in the world. Another hobby of William’s is teaching salsa dancing. It was while teaching at Cerritos College - that William met his wife Nancy many years ago.

It was Nancy who insisted William be treated for flu/cold symptoms on December 12, 2017. After a week of taking prescribed antibiotics his symptoms developed into pneumonia. More antibiotics and follow up doctor visits, nothing was helping. On December 26, 2017, William was hospitalized when his oxygen level dropped to 70. Within 24 hours William was placed in the Intensive Care Unit. Soon he was put on a Bipap Oxygen Machine, to fully support his lungs. Multiple x-rays and a body scan showed William’s lungs were in complete failure. At that time he was diagnosed with lung disease fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension. In order to save William’s life he had to be intubated. The community hospital treating him requested a transfer to a hospital capable of accomodating William’s acute critical needs. On January 18, 2018, Keck Hospital of USC notified they had an available bed for William. He was transported by a fully equipped special ambulance. An expert team of specialists were standing by to receive him. William was immediately placed on an ECMO machine which is currently serving as his external lungs. Additionally, he was placed on Dialysis to filter his kidneys from the multitude of prescribed medications that were straining his kidneys. The fibrosis has completely hardened William’s lungs and he is in need of a double lung transplant. The USC team of doctors are feverishly working to get William ready to receive the transplant. Because of the severity of William’s condition, he will be placed at the top of the transplant list.

William has now been hospitalized for almost 3 months, clinging to life with the hope of receiving this transplant. In spite of his struggles William continues to have a smile when you enter his hospital room. Nancy has been by her loving husband’s bedside everyday since December 12, 2017. It has been necessary for Nancy to put her hairdressing business of 32 years on hold so that she is available to be with William and advocate for him on a daily basis. While dealing with the continual emotional strain, the acute care costs are exorbitant and relentless while the medical bills are stacking up.

It is with sincere compassion that I ask for your donation to help with the costs associated with William’s medical condition and continual care. If it is not possible to make a donation at this time, I understand and ask that you kindly keep William, Nancy and their family in your prayers. Thank you
