William Mejia ALS

As some people already know our father William Mejia suffers from ALS, and for those who do not know our dad was diagnosed in April 2015, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often known as the "Lou Gehrig's disease" , is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord. My dad is in a life support machine (ventilator, breathing machine) with this machine is the only way to keep my dad alive but unfortunately since his organs are falling and his body can no longer even use the nutrients through his feeding tube, the doctors have decided to remove the food and only give him days or a few more weeks of life. Although this decision hurts us in the soul, but my father can not do it anymore and the doctors can not do anything else. We are so thankful to the doctors, nurses, nursing assistant and respiratory therapists and all the staff in the hospital,this people are angels send from god, they have struggled until the end to be able to keep my dad alive but this terrible desease has no cure. Since the day he was diagnosed with this desease my dad has been getting worse little by little but now it has been very progressive, he is completely paralyzed and can no longer open his eyes or move any part of his body, my dad has struggled all of this years and is not easy for us to see him suffer this way. My dad has suffered too much these 3 years and 5 months and it is time for him to meet with God, he is a warrior but even the most warriors surrender. Although it is difficult for me and my family to let my dad go, we have to understand that he can not keep fighting and we are so proud of him because he is the strongest person I have ever met, but unfortunately he is suffering a lot inside and out and it is time for him to rest in peace. My sisters, my mom and I are grateful to God for giving us a wonderful father we want to remember him always for the great man he is. In a short time my father will pass away, and unfortunately we are never prepared for a situation of these and we are not financially well to cover all the expenses for the funeral since this is super expensive, any donation you can Give is Appreciated.
