William and Noelle Easland

First a little back ground; Will is an 28 year old EMT and volunteer firefighter. Noelle is a 25 year old labor and delivery nurse. They grew up and met in California, went to college in Washington state, got married and moved to Colorado. They love their dog Pearl, taking her on hikes in the beautiful mountains, and working on fixing up their first home.

Will was diagnosed with a very rare liver cancer (1 in 5,000,000 in the population at large) when he was 22. His first surgery, in the summer of 2013, was extensive and the recovery was difficult. A very large tumor and half his liver was removed. Due to the rarity of this type of cancer, Will requires a specialist,  hence the travel to San Francisco. This is where he had his second surgery in May, 2017. After that surgery Will had a difficult recovery for a week in the hospital and a week at a near-by Airbnb before being medically cleared to return home. His full recovery took months during which Noelle was the primary care-giver. Unfortunately, Noelle had a "flare-up" of her ulcerative colitis at the same time and was out on sick leave from work.

Now, a little less than 2 years later; Will is set to go for a third open surgery next week. He has lymph nodes near the liver and stomach which are cancerous and need resecting. Surgery remains the cornerstone of treatment for this disease.

Will's oncologist, the incredible Dr. Alan Venook, has arranged for Dr. Carlos Corvera, chief of liver, biliary, and pancreatic cancer surgery at UCSF to yet again perform William's surgery this Thursday, February 21st. Dr. Corvera has told them to expect the same recovery as last time. That is two weeks in San Fransisco and many more at home, without income or disability to help.

Though they would never ask, Will and Noelle, young married couple that they are, would so much appreciate our help in covering the costs of travel, food, accommodation, time out from work, mortgage payments, medical bills, ect., just to mention a few, as Will's full recovery can take months.

Will and Noelle are supported on their journey by an incredible group of people. If a monetary contribution is something you can provide to the effort on top of everything else, we thank you sincerely, but if it is not, your thoughts and prayers are always enough.

If you want to go further, Memorial Slone Kettering Cancer Center is assiduously working to raise funds for rare cancer research. Visit  https://giving.mskcc.org/story/feet-pedals-foot-door to get involved! Last but not least, the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation, at  http://fibrofoundation.org/donate/, offers ways we can help fight this, our own rare cancer.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
