WILL YOU HELP US RAISE SOME DOUGH ??? FOR OUR FAVORITE  DOUGHNUT AND STICKY BUN LADY

Nancy Martin of Windmill Village Bakery was diagnosed with Serous Carcinoma - an uncommon and aggressive form of cervical cancer - and Metastatic Adenocarcinoma in her lymph nodes November 2018 - causing them to close earlier than usual.  I got the last sticky buns Nancy made Saturday November 10, 2018.  On November 15, 2018 Nancy had a radical hysterectomy.  WHO KNEW?

Windmill Village Bakery opened in 2005.  Slow start to “really rolling” in the last 3 years.  Now this…

Relying on being “OPEN FOR BUSINESS” to put money in their pockets Nancy and David are coming up on what would normally be their season to fill their coffers.  Longer than expected recovery from surgery, radiation, and chemo is delaying their ability to open.  No open - no dough!  For them OR us!  Being self employed is a wonderful thing, however, it brings with it challenges enough without additional obstacles such as this.   Summer 2019 they will be open – hopefully - Thurs, Fri and  Sat starting  in June – again  hopefully!  That means they have lost 2 months of income already and then 2 days a week for the rest of their season.

Medical bills are in part paid for by insurance.  Fortunately, Nancy and David do have some insurance.  On the other hand - we all know extra expenses creep in.  Just like good dough - the bills have risen and have exceeded expectation.  Current bills have risen beyond $21,000 and as we all know - unfortunately - will continue to rise. WE are asking YOU to help Nancy and David meet those expenses.

We – Their  “Team of Friends”  (listed below) have set a goal of $50,000.

I (Kathy Abarr) had offered last fall to do a Go Fund Me page.  Nancy thanked me and said no - that she felt they could manage.  Come this spring enough had changed that she is now willing to accept our help.

Not easy for a proud and independent person.

Nancy may have lost her hair but NOT her Spirit! (She says she looks like her father now.)

And Now WE “KNEAD” YOU!

Be it the actual price of a doughnut, sticky bun, pie or whatever generous amount you feel you are willing to spare - every bit will help take a bite out of the debt they are facing.  Every dollar raised will go to paying the medical bills and associated costs of being unable to work.   IF fortunate enough to raise more than needed the extra will go to help pay for their insurance.  We will be providing a “Thermometer Of Success” and “Pie Chart of Expenses” outlining what has been raised and what is being paid for.

Every donor will have an honorary “picture” representing their donation (see below) with their name and where they live placed in the shop to remind Nancy and David just how lucky they are to have SO very MANY people that care about them.  You all range across this great nation and beyond!

It will be fun to see just how far and wide the impact of these two rolls.

Let’s ALL RISE TO THE OCCASION  - just as Nancy’s dough does - to bring them some joy and smiles on their  faces just like they do for us whenever we bite in to one of the fantastically delicious treats they labor over to provide for us.

??? = One ? for Them   One ? for You  One ? for Us  If we all step up to this challenge to help them meet their challenges we can know we leave no ? of our own humanity, our love for our community, and helping care for our friends. Yes - Nancy and David are all of that.  Full of humanity. They make our community more of a community.  They are our friends.  For the number of times I have been in the bakery I have remained amazed at how welcoming and friendly Nancy and David are.   (After getting up at anywhere from 12 midnight to 4 AM to get the sweet treats ready for us  I’m not sure how Nancy maintains her sweet smile and friendly attitude.)

To ALL a big  THANK YOU in advance.

Again - WE “KNEAD” YOU! SO THEY CAN GET BACK TO THIS
