Will you Help Dan Explore Art & Work in Canada?

Donation protected
Dan Oketch is a Kenyan artist whose working methods include snoozaroo skin paints, acrylics on fabric and walls, bleach and ink on paper, and spray and matte paints on walls. Dan explores themes of freedom and multiplicity of being through his art.

Dan’s favorite main art style, body art has not been sustainable. He has therefore diversified and mastered house-painting, which has become his main source of income. Dan has found an opportunity to do painting work in Canada long term to support his family and his art. He howeverer lacks the resources required for this journey and appeals to you to HELP GET HIM TO CANADA.

Dan’s art journey began as a young boy of 3 years old, he realized then that he had a talent for drawing. He wanted to know more about art, therefore during his primary school years he apprenticed with several established artists in Nairobi. After gaining enough skills and confidence, he became ready to explore his own art and tell his own stories.

His unique art technique emerged during the most difficult periods of his life. In a prison cell, scribbling art on his skin became a source of comfort. He dreamed about drawing on people’s bodies. Dan eventually developed the number 5 as a symbol of his art, a representation of freedom and the ability of his five fingers.

The funds raised will be used for Dan's travel documents processing, plane ticket and other miscellaneous expenses.
