Wilks family

On the 24th of March this year, on the isolated Barkly highway in far-western Queensland, the Wilks family suffered an unimaginable tragedy.
Wayne and Sharon Wilks' two daughters, Kimberly and Chantelle were involved in road traffic crash. This incident resulted in Kimberly's death, and life-changing injuries for Chantelle.
The world has lost a truly beautiful soul, and life will never be the same for all connected to this incident.
Wayne is a brother to all paramedics, having worked tirelessly as a first-responder for over 20 years. From SAAS to QAS, and most recently St John NT, Wayne continues to give of himself for the benefit of others as an extremely dedicated operational paramedic.
Last year Wayne and Sharon relocated themselves from Queensland to Nhulunbuy, a remote town in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory.
Wayne and Sharon have instantly become a much loved part of our small local community. We are all grieving with them.
Given that Chantelle's recovery and rehabilitation will need to be in Brisbane, this will no-doubt place great financial hardship on this wonderful family. They will need to travel many miles in the coming months to support Chantelle and begin piecing their lives together again.
Our collective hearts ache for the Wilks family at this time, and we want to do anything we can to support them through these hardest of days. We hope that easing the financial burden will help them to concentrate on healing together.
