In March of 2018, Clemmie began a solo, unsupported horseback trek across 5,330 kms of Australia with three brumbies- wild Australian horses. The trek will take between 1-2 years and be documented in photos, videos and audio recordings. Clemmie is mentored by a team of horse, media and adventure professionals. The trek is extremely difficult and traverses remote areas.

Clemmie has been working with horses for four years in preparation for her trek, completeing a series of unpaid apprenticeships. Her inspiration stems from a childhood dream instilled by Robyn Davidson’s journey in 1980 across the Outback on camels. 

The Bicentennial National Trail (BNT) is the longest multipurpose trail in the world, stretching nearly 5,330 kilometres (3,355 miles) through rural and remote Australia. The trail links 18 national parks and over 50 state forests, crossing a mixture of private and public land. Less than a dozen people have completed the BNT on horseback without vehicle support, as it requires extensive preparation and dedication. The trail is no easy feat, it is extremely difficult and intensive. 

The horses rotate between being ridden, carrying a pack saddle, and walking with no saddle. 

On the trail, horse health is prioritised. Everyday isdevoted to securing adequate feed, water, rest and medical attention. Special care is given to hoof health, muscular condition and prevention of saddle sores. We travel two days and rest one day to ensure the mob stays in excellent health. As soon as the horses seem ill or in danger of injury, they will be spelled for 2 weeks to 2 months. This trip is all about the horses! 

Wild Tracks promotes the benefits of equine therapy by showcasing parellels between mental health and horsemanship and providing pubicity for these programs.
