Wildflower New York Charter School Fundraiser

Wildflower NY Charter School is seeking support for the following:

Outdoor Learning Environment: Our school is revitalizing a backyard garden to be used as an outdoor learning environment for children. As a result of COVID-19, one of the safest ways for small groups of people to gather is in an outdoor area. We will renovate our outdoor space to be an environment where children can engage in botany and urban farming. This space will also function as an outdoor Montessori class space. This will enhance our children’s connection to nature, scientific wonder, while fostering a deeper sense of community. Your donations will help us install raised garden beds, purchase outdoor furniture and materials for children to use in their learning environment, tents for rain coverage, and more.

- Home Montessori Materials: Your donation will help provide each child with critical Montessori materials to be kept in their home environments for remote and home schooled learning

- MiFi Mobile Hotspot: Your donation will allow Wildflower New York Charter School to provide technology as well as provide solutions to internet access.

About Wildflower New York Charter School:

Wildflower New York Charter School is currently made up of two micro-schools.  The Gloria Alston Children’s Learning Center is Wildflower New York Charter School’s primary school, serving Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten. The Rose School is Wildflower New York Charter School’s elementary school, serving First Grade for the 2020-2021 school year. In the following 2021-2022 academic year, The Rose School will expand to serve both First and Second Grade.

The Gloria Alston Children’s Learning Center and The Rose School, a Bronx community primary and elementary school, envisions a culturally and linguistically diverse neighborhood-nested, public Montessori program that provides to children full attention to life and its requirements so they can author their own journeys in a space where joy, empowerment, humanity, interconnectedness, healing, balance, and harmony are at the core of their daily experiences.

Founded by school leaders from the Morrisania, Bronx community, and greater New York City area, our schools offer a public and authentic option Montessori education, grounded in culturally sustaining and critical pedagogy. Our work is grounded in liberatory education. This child-centered, hands-on-learning environment will foster education in areas of math, reading, writing, agriculture, geography, biology, history, social and emotional health, visual art, music, and more. Wildflower New York Charter School is an anti-bias and anti-racist organization committed to  education equity for our children, families, and community.

Our micro-schools are teacher-led and offer a grass-roots approach. Wildflower NY Charter School is affiliated with Wildflower Schools, an ecosystem of decentralized Montessori micro-schools that support children, teachers, and parents. Our school board and faculty operate in a non-hierarchical way. Wildflower NY Charter School is grounded in structural equity at the micro-school and charter level.
