Rescued wild animals face an uncertain future
Donation protected
Tomwek is a Lar Gibbon. She was kept as a pet in Java, Indonesia. Tomwek was rescued in 2003 by Wildlife Rescue Centre (WRC) Jogja. 150 other animals at WRC share similar stories, most have been poached from the wild and have experienced immense suffering. Although rescued, they now face an uncertain future. Due to COVID-19 WRC is experiencing extreme financial hardship. The usual funds WRC relies on from paying volunteers have completely dried up. Global Animal Welfare is raising funds for food and enrichment supplies. Without financial support WRC may need to hand over the animals to the government where they face an uncertain future. Your support will contribute to not only the immediate crisis but also a longer term project which will see Global Animal Welfare delivering advice and training to staff at WRC. The focus is to develop staff capacity at the rescue centre and improve the care and welfare of all the animals. These animals have been saved and together we can provide them with a better future.
