<div>Es fühlt sich an, als wolle das Jahr 2025 uns auf eine harte Probe stellen – die Dog Care Clinic erlebt derzeit eine Herausforderung nach der anderen. Kaum hatten wir begonnen, uns von den letzten Rückschlägen zu erholen, hat uns in der Nacht zum 23.10.2025 ein heftiger Sturm getroffen, der über den Süden Sri Lankas hinwegfegte und in der Region schwere Schäden hinterließ.

<div>Auch unsere Anlage blieb leider nicht verschont. <strong>Mehrere Dächer unserer Hundehäuser wurden durch die Sturmböen abgedeckt oder sind teilweise eingestürzt.</strong> Eine riesige Palme stürzte auf eines der Gebäude und richtete dort verheerende Zerstörungen an. Selbst das neue Dach, das wir derzeit noch im Bau und leider auch noch nicht vollständig bezahlt haben, wurde erheblich beschädigt.

<div>Als wir am Morgen das Ausmaß der Verwüstung sahen, war der Schock groß. Teile des Dachs unserer Ambulanz sind auf die OP-Tische gestürzt, sodass wir erstmal keine Operationen mehr durchführen können. Wir mussten zwischenzeitlich ein Sonderteam zusammentrommeln und beschäftigen, das unsere dringenden Notfall-OPs abfangen kann.

<div>Doch inmitten all der Trümmer gab es einen Moment tiefster Erleichterung: <strong>Kein einziges Tier und kein Mensch wurde verletzt.</strong> Dafür bin ich unendlich dankbar – denn das Wohl unserer Hunde und meines Teams steht für mich immer an erster Stelle.

<div>Trotzdem ist der finanzielle Schaden gewaltig. Die notwendigen Reparaturen und Wiederaufbauten werden rund <strong>20.000 Euro</strong> kosten – eine Summe, die ich aus eigener Kraft nicht mehr aufbringen kann. Viele unserer Mittel sind bereits durch frühere Notfälle aufgebraucht, und dennoch muss ich jetzt schnell handeln, um unseren Hunden wieder sichere Unterkünfte und die dringend benötigte medizinische Versorgung zu bieten, bevor der nächste Regen kommt.

<div>Mir fällt es nicht leicht, euch erneut um Hilfe zu bitten. Ich weiß, dass ich in den letzten Monaten oft auf eure Unterstützung angewiesen war, und ich bin immer noch überwältigt von all der Solidarität, die mein Team und ich bisher erfahren durften. Aber die Unglücksserie reißt einfach nicht ab – und ohne eure Hilfe schaffe ich es diesmal nicht.

<div><strong>Jede Spende, ganz gleich in welcher Höhe, hilft uns, die zerstörten Dächer zu reparieren, neue Materialien zu beschaffen und unseren Hunden wieder einen geschützten Platz zum Leben zu geben.</strong>

<div>It feels as though 2025 is truly putting us to the test – the Dog Care Clinic is facing one challenge after another. Just as we had begun to recover from the last setbacks, a violent storm swept across southern Sri Lanka on Wednesday night, leaving behind severe damage throughout the region.
</div>

<div>Sadly, our facility was not spared. <strong>Several roofs of our dog houses were torn off or partially collapsed under the force of the storm.</strong> A massive palm tree fell onto one of the buildings, causing devastating destruction. Even the new roof – still under construction and not yet fully paid for – suffered significant damage.
</div>

<div>When we saw the extent of the devastation the next morning, we were in shock. Parts of the roof of our clinic had collapsed onto the operating tables, meaning we can no longer perform surgeries for the time being. We had to quickly assemble and employ a special emergency team to handle the most urgent operations. Yet amidst all the rubble, there was a moment of immense relief: <strong>not a single animal or person was injured</strong>. For that, I am endlessly grateful – because the well-being of our dogs and my team will always be my top priority.

<div>Nevertheless, the financial damage is immense. The necessary repairs and reconstruction will cost around <strong>€20,000</strong> – an amount I can no longer cover on my own. Many of our resources have already been depleted by previous emergencies, and yet we must act quickly to restore safe shelters and provide urgently needed medical care for our dogs before the next rain arrives.

<div>It is not easy for me to ask for your help once again. I know that in recent months I have often relied on your support, and I am still deeply moved by the solidarity and kindness my team and I have received. But this streak of misfortune just won’t end – and this time, I truly cannot do it without you.
