Widows & Students Feeding Program

Faith in Action is a mission organization that focuses on regions of extreme poverty in third-world countries. Our heart is to reach the people who have been overlooked and left behind by their countries and show them they are still loved and valued by God.
We provide schools, homes, medical centers, roads, and water projects in all the areas we work in. At their request, we build churches in villages when they can no longer fit in their homes. Currently we are in 8 villages across the inland and outskirts of Guatemala.
We have an urgent need for the funding of our widow and school feeding programs!
How do you convince a village of illiterate parents who never had the opportunity of an education to see value in it for their children? They are starving after all, and cannot afford to have their kids not pull their own weight so that there can be food to eat.
We prayed and had the idea of a "Childrens Reward" program. We explained to the parents, "For every child that you allow to stay in school, we will give them beans, corn, rice, sugar, salt, and a nutrition drink Incaparina, every month. School is going to be your childs job."
It worked! Parents were trying to sign up kids that couldnt even see over the rickety wooden desks.
Our widow and school feeding programs have been active for over 10 years, but due to the lack of funds from our partner organization, this program has lost it's support. The combined cost per month for both programs is $2,291.00. This gives us the ability to purchase and transport the food up the mountains.
We cannot turn away these famlies.
We cannot let them go back to being hungry, back to working in the fields at 5, 6,7 yrs old, because we lost funding. The only thing they would hear is, "You cant eat today. Your going to be hungry."
We know that finances is not an issue for God. He has a solution. Maybe it is to open the door and include more people in the purpose and story He is writing in the mountains of Guatemala, among these beautiful hidden treasures of the world. Maybe it's through you, and your neighbor, and the stranger in the grocery store all giving a little that will add up to alot, to enough for these famlies to take something home to feed their famlies with.
