*ATTENTION: We are overwhelmed by your generosity and support. I have decided to bring the goal up to $2500 so my mom and aunt can also help the family with any essential items they will need for the home like mattresses, bedding, etc.
Asalamualaykum Everyone
Hope you are doing well. I wanted to share an opportunity to give in Sadaqah(Charity) this Ramadan. My mom and aunt have been back home (between Djibouti and Borama for a few months now). Alhamdulillah they have been able to do many charitable things while they have been there and I wanted to help them on their new endeavour to help this family.
They have come across this wonderful man who is a widower of 8 kids. He currently is raising 6/8 kids who are still school aged in a remote area in Borama, Somaliland. He is unemployed however goes out everyday trying to seek what ever paid opportunity he can get by offering stores in the market place his cleaning services.
They live in hut like home (two separate ones that act as two bedrooms as well as a smaller shack that they use as a kitchen in order to cook. They don’t have an official bathroom and they have to relieve themselves in nature. Being in a hot climate while there is a drought has attracted many wild animals and subhanAllah they sleep in this space with no protection but of that which Allah provides for them. They are often in danger of being attacked and even killed by wild animals such as snakes and hyenas.
Above I have attached a photo of the outside of their home/bedrooms. My mom and aunt did not want to take pictures of them in order to preserve and respect their dignity. They (my mom and aunt) would like to collect money for them in order to purchase and have assembled for them a more durable and safer home that is made out of Canteen/Shipping container materials. This is commonly used amongst many local people across the country as it provides sufficient shelter as well as it keeps out animals. To build one of these types of homes with 2 bedrooms and cooking space cost roughly $1400USD.
The goal is to reach $1500USD to also cover the services and sending fees. I will be withdrawing the funds and using an accessible money transfer service to send the donations. If by the permission of Allah we are able to collect more than the goal, we will use those funds to help them furnish and purchase essential items for their home inshaa Allah.
We would love your support and contribution and I pray that Allah accepts from us all our Sadaqah and good deeds.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said “Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire” (Hadith, Tirmidhi)
Ch. 63, V. 10
وَأَنفِقُوا مِن مَّا رَزَقْنَاكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوْلَا أَخَّرْتَنِي إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous."
Ch 57, V. 18.
إِنَّ الْمُصَّدِّقِينَ وَالْمُصَّدِّقَاتِ وَأَقْرَضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمْ وَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ
Indeed, the men who practice charity and the women who practice charity and [they who] have loaned Allah a goodly loan - it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward.
Ch 2, V. 261
مَّثَلُ الَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ أَنبَتَتْ سَبْعَ سَنَابِلَ فِي كُلِّ سُنبُلَةٍ مِّائَةُ حَبَّةٍ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يُضَاعِفُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
