help us pay for Dale's cremation

EDITED TO ADD: At this point, we have more than enough, and no more donations are required. Dale's cremation and his daughter's travel are covered, and anything left will go toward setting up his memorial service, which we're in the process of planning.

On 4 January 2018, our brother, our housemate, our friend Dale Mazur died. He was in a local hospital being treated for cardiac issues when he had a heart attack and they couldn't revive him.

We are, to say the least, gobsmacked. Dale was only 53. He had many medical issues, and we always knew that we were likely to lose him sooner than we'd hoped, but we still thought we had more time with him.

Dale has been my wife Wrenn's adoptive big brother and one of her best friends for almost three decades now. He was her sibling in every way that mattered, and he became part of my family when Wrenn and I got together in 2009. He stood by our side at our wedding in April 2017 and has been part of our home for all the time we've been together.

Dale had very simple desires for his funerary rites: he didn't want anyone making a fuss over him, he just wanted his body cremated. However, that is still an expense -- Dale himself was on disability and didn't have much, and as a pair of freelancers, we don't have much more.

So we're asking for help from our friends and family. Anything you can give to help pay for the disposition of his remains would be greatly appreciated by us, and the rest of his family.

Thank you.

UPDATE: We've reached the $2500 goal in just a few hours, but some folks haven't even seen it yet, so we're going to leave it open and the overage will go toward helping Dale's daughter Leia fly to New York to help us go through Dale's stuff.

Again, thank you all very very very very much.
