<div>end of October 2025 I was diagnosed as having an aggressive brain tumour. This was operated upon immediately to remove what they could, but then it was declared a Grade 4 Wild-Type Glioblastoma....the worst kind of brain cancer, incurable, and even when removed, will return with a vengeance.

<div>I got married to my lovely Nigel just over 2 years ago, having retired from my job as a full time fashion designer. Once I moved in with him, I joined Nigel in being a carer for his mumwho is now, 2 years on, 99 and bedridden. I am only on a state pension, and Nigel is

<div>pre-pension age and hasn't been able to work for some years having given up his courier business in order to be a carer initially for both his father, who sadly passed away, and his
</div>
<div>mother (who he is now a full time carer for). In 2020 he had a stroke, so isn't in the best of health himself! Currently his mum Marje has 4 personal carers visit daily but we can't be out of the house for too long as we see to meals, laundry/housework and being on call for emergencies etc. We would like to be able to pay for some extra care so that we can have more time together.

<div>I'm currently having daily radiotherapy and chemotherapy which involves daily trips over 6 consecutive weeks to the QEH at Birmingham, a 45 minute drive away, and which leave me chronically fatigued and nauseous, suffering panic attacks and general anxiety. We try to

<div>get back to check on Marje asap and fit our other errands around her when the carers aren't able to be there with her (their visits last approx 30 minutes, so the majority of the day she

<div>is reliant on us).

<div>I am trying to maintain my creative life which involves selling antique silk Japanese kimonos at vintage fairs. We can only do a few of these a year, as I am not allowed to driveat all so yet another task falls to Nigel and it’s incredibly stressful for us both. If we could pay for extra care we may be able to escape more often but that brings us back to living onmy pension and his single carer's allowance.

<div>I was doubtful about asking for help as I feel guilty asking for money personally. As much as I wish our hard work in life had paid off, but circumstances and misfortune means that we haven’t been able to keep as much of a rainy day fund as we’d hoped we would have, and right now it feels like the rainiest of days and we can't afford to have a bucket list we can tick off! I know that more than ever, people are feeling the

<div>struggles in everyday life, so it’s more than enough to me that you’ve even made it this far down the page!
