"Who I Was" An Original Play
Donation protected
"Who I Was" is an original play that follows a boy named Colton through the progression of his junior year in high school. It addresses many issues that are especially prevelant today including mental illness, gun violence, and alcohol abuse. Writing about such personal material can be very difficult, and it is critical that it is portrayed in an emotionally sensitive way, while still fully addressing these important issues. "Who I Was" approaches these issues from multiple perspectives, and will hopefully provide insight into the many psychological factors that lead to teenagers becoming so frustrated that they resort to violence. I am excited about this project and am fundraising to cover production costs, which include the performance space, costumes, and set design. My plan was always to donate all proceeds from this fundraiser and ticket sales above and beyond production costs to a charity supporting the end to gun violence. This is even more important to me now after the recent school shooting that has lead to the deaths and injuries of other high school students like me. I have decided to donate to Everytown a charity that works to end gun violence and build safer communities. Thank you for considering donating to this project, and embarking on this journey with me.
