On the day Stewart got his clean bill of health from his brain tumor, Whittlee was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on February 7th, 2019. It has spread rapidly and is in her lungs, throat, and liver. It is creating a large blockage in her colon that makes her digestion a very serious, daily concern.
The cancer is so advanced that surgery is not a viable option, so Whittlee is starting chemo treatments on Tuesday, February 12. The plan is for 4-5 rounds of 1 week on/1 week off treatments and then to assess whether the chemo is effectively slowing the effects of the cancer. If not, the plan is to stop treatment.
Whittlee is blessed with a strong family and community of friends and fellow church members, who are helping as much as possible with the daily necessities of taking care of the children, preparing meals, and keeping the Hamblin home in order.
This unexpected illness brings with it many immediate and ongoing expenses, from medical bills to long-term child care needs. Your generosity will help this young family as they brave the difficult times ahead.
