Whittier School Ski program

Whittier Alaska is a town of approximately 180 year round residents.  We are located on beautiful Prince William Sound.  We are about 50 miles south of Anchorage tucked behind a 2.5 mile long train tunnel.  Most of our residents live in one 15 story building which is attached, via another underground tunnel, to the Whittier Community School. 
The preK-12 school has 35 students, 4 teachers, 2 classroom aids, one secretary, one cook, a maintence man and countless volunteers.   In the winter of 2013-2014 our 3rd-12th grade students, teachers and families worked hard to fundraise enough money to afford 4 days of ski lessons at our local ski hill.  This year we have been invited back to join 3 other schools for a total of 6 lessons.  We are beyond excited! 
This is where we need your help.
Being a very small town with very limited resources means we struggle to meet our fundraising goals each year.  Our ski program will cost us approximately $3000 this year or $120 per student. This includes lessons for 25 students, rental gear, and a lift ticket.  We are working hard on the ground to raise money through craft sales, sponsor-a- skier donations, delivery dinners, and community sporting events but sadly we fear it may not be enough.  Every little bit will help make make all our skiing dreams come true!!  We assure you that your donation will help keep Whittier students moving and smiling during our long winters!!  Thank you!!!
