Whittens Under Water - Flood Fund



Hello Friends,

My name is Lizzie Weeks Bumpas and I am from Dallas, Texas. I am trying to help raise money for one of the kindest, most generous and most selfless families I know. The Whittens. Carla (my bestfriend and Dallas native) moved to Spring, TX in 2014 to be with her loving husband, Hunt.

As you know, Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey hit South Texas and the Houston area this past weekend and is still wreaking havoc. More than 30,000 people (and counting) have been forced to leave their homes due to flooding. This includes Carla and Hunt Whitten. 

Fortunately, Carla, Hunt, their two cats (Mila and Mishu) and their dog (Stella) are safe and staying with Hunt's parents. Their home they just purchased this past February, however, is not. 

As of right now, Hunt and his fellow Ponderosa Firefighters are traveling by boat to rescue other Spring, TX residents. Carla is currently assessing the damage and trying to figure out how much the insurance company will cover. Fortunately, they do have flood insurance, but their will still be a lot of out-of-pocket expenses.

The goal is to help them meet their insurance deductible so they can use their out-of-pocket expenses for things they need to use everyday (food, pet food, water, furniture, clothing, toiletries etc.)

All the proceeds will go directly to Hunt and Carla. As per the Whitten's request, all the extra funds they don’t use will be donated to Rick and Sheri Reeg. Rick is a fellow Ponderosa firefigher who has been resuing people throughout the week. Their house has been completely destroyed and are in dire need of help to rebuild it.
