Hi, my name is Austin Altman and I am an aspiring film director from New York. I am raising funds for my debut feature-length film that I am co-directing with Thomas Annunziata, a director and actor from New York.
"Where It's Loudest” is a psychological slasher that is centered around an estranged group of siblings from upstate New York as they deal with severe trauma and grief. Our story follows Sarah Keane, a 19-year-old country baby whose life became a nightmare when a wildfire burned down part of her family farmhouse, killing her parents but sparing the lives of her two younger brothers, Howard and Andrew Keane, who witnessed their deaths.
This tragedy has only furthered Sarah from her brothers who blame her for the fire and puts a strain on her friends who are trying to help her feel comfortable with something they know she did not do. Howard finds comfort in attempting to follow his family’s faith, however, he does not know much about it and interprets it in a twisted way. With knowledge that the veil between the spirit world and earth is thinnest on October 31st, he becomes convinced that Sarah and her friends must be sacrificed to their parents for their spirits to move on and for Andrew to heal. Howard convinces Andrew of their fate and plans to hold the sacrifice at their family’s annual haunted house.
This film feels like a child I have raised. For the past three years, Thomas and I have worked closely to craft a story that is fresh and brings true fear. We have directed and released a short prologue called "Where The Light Hits," which follows two teenagers who Howard deems guilty and kills while they are on a field at night talking. I have been inspired by film my entire life, in particular the horror genre which has felt like a spiritual home for me. I want to bring those emotions to life and showcase a bloody slasher that highlights the effects that trauma can have on an individual in a grounded way. If you help me fund my campaign you will be able to see that vision in reality.
We are asking for $10,000 to help us get the production off the ground. I will break down the five ways we will be using the funds given. The first way is to obtain a trademark and copyright our film to be able to produce and distribute our work with no legal headaches. Secondly, for our production, we need to hire a cast and crew; these funds will cover any onboarding fees. For example, we are hiring three more writers with feature film experience to elevate our script and make it silver-screen-worthy. Third, we are looking at ways to further fundraise and promote our film, with your help we can fundraise more using a mix of online and guerrilla marketing. Fourth, insurance in the film world is an absolute must for the safety of everyone involved and the equipment we use. Finally, but equally as important, Tom and I are pitching our film to a production company to run the production of our film; with these donations, we will be able to properly pitch our film to be taken on. Every one of these steps is essential to a film being created and without them, Thomas and I cannot start our film. It would genuinely mean the world to me if you donated and helped us on our journey to make this vision a reality for you all to remember. Thank you for your time in looking at our campaign and with your help the scares will be coming soon...
