When the dream of walking becomes a reality

My name is Kestutis Mykolaitis, I am raising funds for my long time friend, soccer player , father to a little baby girl and a beloved coach to a kids soccer team Gajus Kulbis who lives in Lithuania. On 2022 May 28 Gajus ( age 33) fell down on his neck during a soccer match and was instantly paralyzed from the neck down. After medically induced coma and multi hour operator doctors have him 0% chance of ever walking or gaining any normal body functions and told Gajus he is lucky he can still breath on his own. The prognosis was devastating to everyone, especially Gajus who’s world flipped upside down in a split second. He could never go back to coaching his kid’s team that he was so proud of. He could never play himself and most important he could never give a hug to his baby daughter.

Months later after receiving physical therapy each day and moral support from determined friends Gajus started feeling sensation in his toes! A light of hope appeared in his eye and a new goal “to walk”was set. Though multiple failures, frustration, pain, relentless willpower and support of friends and medical staff, impossible stated to become possible. Gajus is slowly regaining sensation in his limbs, learning how to control his body and starting to build strength in weak muscles.

Being the breadwinner in his family he can no longer provide for his family nor afford expensive medical care that he desperately needs. A fundraise was set in Lithuania to help him extend his stay in Palanga Rehabilitation Center for few more month but a lot more rehabilitation is needed.

I know Gajus since he was a little kid. We grew up together in the same town same house and I can honestly say he is not only a passioned soccer player but a good, honest and sensitive person. He genuinely loves coaching his little kids and like any other good dad wants to give a good life to his daughter. With your help we can help this young man get back on his feel, quiet literally. With relentless determination Gajus already proved he his a fighter. Let’s help him reach his goat of walking.
