<div>The devastating fire on our council estate here in Mitcham on Saturday 25th July, wiped out decades of memories, childhood photos, and the basic right to a safe home. Right now, eight neighbouring households have nothing left but the clothes on their backs. This tragedy is not an isolated incident. It is part of a quiet, systemic reality across London, where working-class communities and council estates disproportionately carry the burden of fire safety vulnerabilities. When these disasters hit, everyday families pay the immediate price.

<div>On Sunday 2nd August, a 100km (62-mile) one-day bike ride on a single-speed bicycle will be completed across London. Starting directly at the site of the disaster on Belgrave Walk, the 100km route connects these chapters of fire in London's housing history, moving west to Kingston’s 2010 Madingley Fire, east through Camberwell’s 2009 Lakanal House tragedy, north-west to Grenfell Tower (2017), and back across to East London for the historic 1968 Ronan Point disaster. This distance is a direct statement of solidarity, keeping the spotlight strictly on the families who have been displaced and the urgent need to support them.

<div>This campaign was held back to wait for charity confirmation, but has been launched now because these families cannot afford any delay. GoFundMe is holding all donations securely while proposals are finalised this week with Merton Connected (Merton Giving), Wimbledon Guild, or the Salvation Army to act as the direct beneficiary. As soon as their teams process the routing, they will take direct control of the account to distribute 100% of the pot as completely equal cash grants to the affected households.
