Wheelchairs in the the third world
Donation protected
In January of 2017 I travelled to Haiti with a colleague and friend to provide education to the very first group of home grown Haitian OT's and OT's in the area of wheelchair seating and mobility. While there I was fully impressed by the level of dedication the students exhibited and fully impressed by the level of need present in Haiti. While traveling we met a group of students who either did not have a wheelchair or had a chair that was contributing to their postural defirmities. In this moment a commitment grew in my heart to use my skills to improve the quality of life for the students at Saint Vincent DePaul's School. This October I will return to Haiti with a dedicated team of therapists to deliver and customize wheelchairs for the students in need. The university students we taught will also join in to complete a hands on learning experience in how to customize seating. Any gift that you are able to offer would be greatly appreciated and would make a direct improvement in the quality of life for the students served.
