Power wheelchair for André Goulet

Hello everyone,
At about 51 years of age and during a super-active life, my health took a turn for the worst with a degenerative tendon issue wreaking havoc on my body. After 5 years of this, I received a differential diagnosis of Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy, which we are still chasing down to confirm. In any case, as of February 2020, my ability to walk went down from 5km per day to a 1/2 block most days, and standing in line hurts me enough to cost me the rest of my day. So I need a mobility solution to extend my reach, make me more productive and to make my days better. The chair (shown in the video) is $7000.00 at the local Coop Home Care Centre, and the total for accessories such as a spare battery, coffee cup holder (!) and various accessories to help me carry groceries and such will add roughly another $1000.00 to the cost. Any extra money I may have after all parts are purchased, if any, will either go into another spare battery or maintenance for the chair.
I have no ability to use a walker, cane or crutches due to complete tendon tears in both shoulders. I also couldn’t make use of a manual wheelchair.
I can raise some of this money myself, but not nearly enough to get this chair. Some features of this chair that make it compelling are it’s ability to come apart for easy loading into cars (allowing friends to take me with them!), it’s narrow stature that will fit in doorways easily, it’s speed and range and it’s autonomous mode that allows a person to retrieve the chair via a phone app. It also has auto braking and an on-the-spot 360 degree turning radius via tricked out front tires being able to roll sideways. It also has rear tires that are solid and puncture proof. Oh, and it’s pretty cool looking!
To my friends who are reading this: I want to be very clear that you are under no obligation whatsoever to donate to this and I will not judge you one bit if you don’t. We all have our own hurdles to deal with in life, especially in 2020, so you not donating will have exactly zero impact on our friendship!
