Wheelchair accessible van for Aubs

For those of you who know Mary and TJ, you know they are pretty private about their family needs.  As Aubrie is getting older (She’s Turning 10 on Valentine’s Day!) it’s getting harder to keep up with all the things that come along with her condition.   All of the tasks and  responsibilities that come with having a baby plus medical needs are a part of their everyday life.  This is compounded by the fact that Aubrie is not the size of an infant and is only getting bigger.  They recently had to design a new home that would accomidate Aubs’ wheelchair needs and, although they had a hard time doing so, they found a way to make it happen. One of the many next things on the long list is a van that is wheelchair accessible.  Lifting her in and out of the one they have, along with all the other lifting in their daily routine, is getting to be an issue.

Mary is not one to complain and seeing her do this the last time I was visiting made me realize that they can’t wait much longer before her back goes out, as she is in pain already.  I know they priced a van last year and the quote cost was $68,000.  I put that as the goal but whatever this raises can at least get them a start on a down payment.

So many times we tell people “let me know if I can help” and often those people never do because who really wants to ask for help?  I purposely didn’t ask or tell Mary or T that I was going to put this up.  It would be great if we could all come together and help with something that will directly effect the daily lives of everyone in this family.  

CDKL5 (the condition Aubrie has) is a condition that robs families of things we all take for granted. It’s emotionally, physically, and financially draining for them In ways I will never understand.
