Wheel Chair for Mr. Hernandez
Donation protected
Inara George and Sage Raval have joined together to make a very special Christmas wish come true. We hope that you will join us!
A simple donation of any amount will bring us closer to our goal to deliver an electric wheelchair to Mr. Hernandez. Please help us bring support and joy to the Hernandez family.
Who is Mr. Hernandez?
He is a dedicated father who supports his children and their education. He attends school events, many times with the littles ones catching a ride on his lap while his wife, Esperanza, pushes him in a used metal wheelchair.
As baby he contracted Polio leaving one of his legs damaged, although he persevered. He left home at 15 years old to escape an abusive father. With a positive attitude and love in his heart, he forged his own way. After meeting a wonderful woman they created a beautiful family. He is a hard worker and with his guidance has helped to shape his children into kind, compassionate and devoted people.
His son Luis was just written up in the Los Angeles Times as an example of sacrificing himself and his own education for his family, saying that he believes that it is his responsibility to help his younger siblings succeed. Mr Hernandez suffered a stroke in 2016. This left him unable to use either leg and his right arm. He now needs the care of the family he helped to create. He is larger man with an even larger heart. The wheelchair that his wife used to push him in, no longer sufficed. He needed an electric one to be mobile.
He asked his friends to help him find one. They met a guy who hung around the recycling yard and offered a chair to Mr. Hernandez for $40, since it was broken. He took a chance, thinking he could fix it since he’s always been really handy. He got it to work for a while and then it really did break for good. He is now borrowing one from a community member, but the battery gives out after an hour.
Providing a wheelchair to Mr. Hernandez not only helps him with his mobility, dignity and strength, it supports his family.
They are an inspiring example of how to sacrifice for one another.
We ask that you join us in helping Mr. Hernandez and his family this holiday season.
With love and gratitude,
Sage and Inara
