Wheelchair for corey

Hi. My name is Corey Miller and on 11/20/2017, three days after my 29th birthday, I was in a horrible accident on my way home to Austin, Tx. I was driving from west Texas after working several 16 hour shifts in the oil field. The accident caused the vertebrae at the top of my neck to break, some of which shattered and pushed into my spinal cord. I was life flighted to the hospital in Austin where I had surgery to fuse my C3, C4, C5 and C6 vertebrae together.  My family was then told I only had a small chance to live, and that if I did make it, I would have to live with a ventilator breathing for me and remain in an assisted living home because they saw no chance of me recovering.

After several months of being in the ICU, a few more surgeries, pneumonia, E. coli, and a slew of other health issues, I was finally sent to do inpatient therapy. I was still on the ventilator and had no movement below my neck.

After three months of therapy I defeated the odds that were given to me. Although my breathing muscles are weaker than what is considered normal, I am now able to breathe on my own.  After about a year and a half of steady rehabilitation, I have enough bicep strength in the my right arm to move about one pound and little to no movement in my left arm. I have no movement or feeling past my elbows and cannot feel or move anything below my upper chest. The accident has left me as a tetraplegic.

Previous to my accident, hunting, fishing, and pretty much anything else outdoors was a huge part of my life. As you can imagine, being in an electric wheelchair causes me to stick to the side walks and mostly remain indoors. There is no more hunting, hiking, or trips to the beach. Everything in my life has changed since the accident and not getting to do the things that I love has been the hardest.

I've been looking for ways to make outdoor trips on uneven terrain a reality for me. While doing so I found the Extreme 8. It is an electric wheelchair that has 4x4 capabilities. My dream is to purchase one to be able to enjoy the outdoors again without worrying about getting stuck or falling over and ruining my indoor wheelchair. Any money donated to this GoFundMe will be spent on the Extreme 8 wheelchair. If I am blessed enough to have an excess amount of money, those funds would go to specialized equipment that would allow me to hunt and fish and live my outdoor life again.
