We've Got Your Back, Michelle!

Michelle’s story is a long winding journey unfortunately filled with more lows than high points, but hopefully we can change that for her.

Michelle’s story starts a few year ago with a divorce, after 17 years of marriage. Michelle was able to take the split head on and carry on for her two beautiful daughters, helping them with the transition, trying to keep life as normal as possible.

Unfortunately as the dust settled on the divorce, a lack of support from her ex-husband caused the loss of her home in 2016; the home where she raised her daughters. Heartbroken, again Michelle carried on, getting an apartment and choosing to focus on helping her youngest transition into college. Making sure both her daughters had a place to come call home when returning from school.

Life goes on, but the heart can only take so much; one day while driving to work, Michelle suffered a heart attack. A healthy living, and regular exercising, woman of 44, had a stressed induced heart attack. The heart attack took a great toll on Michelle, requiring a small surgery and medication, as you would with expect from such a medical emergency. But life goes on.

Michelle did as you always has, she powered through, with the support of her family and friends, rebuilding her life, but again life had one more curveball for Michelle. After Michelle’s sister has a scary brush with breast cancer, Michelle decided to go for a preventative screening. Call it a blessing in disguise, or another twist of fate, Michelle was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer.

Cancer is… Cancer, and came with the full range of treatments you would imagine; 7 months/6 full chemo treatments, medication, and the final steps of surgery and reconstruction. Not to mention the emotional toll.

I would love to tell you Michelle is Cancer Free, but follow ups and more testing is required to be sure; we are hopeful and pray that this all has a happy ending, which will lead to a clean new beginning. Michelle is ready to try and carry on. Unfortunately this last phase of her journey also added a financial burden to add to her already overflowing plate. This is where you can help, donating even a small amount today can help ease the mounting medical bills. Michelle has always tried to carry on but maybe if we all come together, we can help give her one less hurdle to overcome and she can get back on track for happier days.
