Wetlands Restoration in New Mexico

Donation protected
Hello everyone!  I'm a graduate student seeking financial support to study and monitor restoration efforts of a semi-arid wetland in Cebolla Canyon, near Grants, New Mexico this summer. My research will be part of a broader effort to assess these dryland restoration techniques, and to consolidate the monitoring findings to establish the erosion control and wetland establishment methods as Best Management Practices to be used in similar endeavors.

This will be an invaluable opportunity to study and record innovative restoration techniques that have been implemented over the past decade to restore a desert wetland. I will be monitoring the effects of these techniques, which are uniquely suited to retaining water in a dry, degraded environment - that of rural New Mexico and the Eastern Navajo Nation, as well as in similar climates like sub-Saharan Africa. Methods like these are particularly beneficial for low-income and rural communities to improve and build up the soil and water health on their own land. The erosion and restoration techniques allow land users throughout the Southwest to apply these low-tech, water retention measures to their farms, gardens, backyards, and communities. This technical information will be made public through nonprofit and government (NRCS, NPS) outreach, ensuring access for partners and stakeholders.

I deeply appreciate any and all help!!  THANK YOU!
