Wet Room for Gilly
Donation protected
Hello my name is Cheri, and I am Gilly's wife and carer. We have received a grant from Brighton and Hove Council for £5k but that literally just covers the walk in shower, flooring etc. Ideally we would like a new toilet, sink and a bath, to enable our grandchildren to continue to visit and have fun baths with Granddad watching in, as family enhances his mood. This is against everything I have been taught as I hate asking for charity, but having a new bathroom will give Gilly more independence and hopefully aide his rehabilitation- for those of you do not know Gilly, he had a stroke in May 2020 and because he was being treated for a brain tumour they did not start the stroke drugs in time so his stroke was very dense and he was in hospital following his stroke for 103 days. Now in the community and at home with me and his family, but does not have any more interaction with community stroke services as he has plateaued. He is unable to communicate very well as he has aphasia and dyspraxia, so having this small bit of independence will make a huge difference to Gilly's life. Thank you
