Ride4Gabe Rare Disease Awareness

In 2011 I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Cowden Syndrome .  I have endured more than 10 surgeries related to my illness, and lost my Mom due to complications caused by CS. Despite this, I choose to live life and to celebrate all that it has to offer.  I decided to start a foundation in 2013 to help others who have Cowden Syndrome, and to dedicate myself to helping others with Rare Diseases that have no treatment. I enjoy outdoor cycling, and while on a bicycle adventure in GA, I read about an aquaintences efforts to help a little boy named Gabe Griffin who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.   In less than a month, Michael Staley, Wes Bates, and Payne Griffin will Ride from Maine to Mobile in 11 days to raise awareness for Duchenne and Rare Disease. 2200 miles!!  Gabe should be running and playing sports like other boys his age, yet he is unable to do this due to the terrible nature of his Duchenne Disease.  While we always have HOPE, currently there is no treatment for Duchenne Disease or Cowden Syndrome.  Gabe is on the front line of the war on DMD, and doctors and researchers have the tools to win the first battle to slow Gabe's enemy, Duchenne. The first DMD drug approval will spur future research and investment.  
I was so impressed by this event, I reached out to Michael and asked if I could help.  I have put together a team of cyclists to Join the R4G team and ride from Huntsville, AL to Montgomery, AL. We support Ride4Gabe and bringing awareness to Duchenne and Rare Disease. Awareness is key and we can all get out and make a difference!!  Donate to support this effort or come out and cheer on the riders.
