We at Westview High are looking to continue a tradition of football excellence. Over the past seven seasons, the Wolverines have compiled a winning record of and have helped many fine football players continue their football careers at the collegiate level.
Operational costs for a football program such as ours are around $50,000 per season. Helmets need to be refurbished and/or replaced each year for safety reasons…the majority of our coaching staff are unpaid and count on a stipend to help off-set all the time and effort they give to our players…equipment is constantly in need of repair and replacement…and the uniforms wear out and need to be replaced on an ongoing basis. In addition to these major costs, there are numerous other items that add up very quickly.
While we do receive some funding from the school’s Athletic budget, the bulk of the program’s funding is based on donations and fundraising efforts. In years past we have asked players families to pay $400 per player. This season we have reduced the request and added more fundraisers in an attempt to take some of the financial burdens off the parents. While the fundraisers have been somewhat successful and many of the parents/friend/relatives have donated, we are still in need of further funding. For this reason we are asking that you contribute to the program at whatever level you are comfortable.
By providing assistance to the program, you will allow us to continue to our efforts as we strive to teach our student athletes the fundamentals of football, stress the importance of education, and generally work with each other to make our community a better place for our children to grow up in. We all work to ensure that our athletes learn the valuable lessons that one gains from high school athletics.
