Westport's Medical First Responders
Donation protected
Welcome to the Westport Volunteer Fire Department! Located in the heart of Brier Island Nova Scotia, we have been protecting our island and community since before 1960. In our little department of just 17 members, we also have an amazing team of Medical First Responders (MFRs)! Including 3 new, we now have a total of 9 of our very own firefighters, trained MFRs, serving our community!
Which brings us to why we are looking for donations, specifically for our MFR team. Our MFR equipment is mostly items that have been there since the beginning as well as items that have been passed down from department to department and unfortunately, most have become outdated and worn to the point of no return. We are a small community that resides on an island located down past the Digby Neck, and requires TWO ferry trips to get to, so our outreach to communities is very, very, slim to none. Brier Island is a very busy tourist village starting early April and ending late November, home to many hiking trails, whale watch tours, and of course, is surrounded by the ocean blue with strong currents and high tides. Due to that busy time of year, our calls escalate drastically. Our team of MFRs are looking to raise money to fund new equipment so that they can be better prepared for any and all situations that may arise any day, 12 months of the year. The Westport Volunteer Fire Department and Medical First Responders thank all those who decide to donate to our cause.
Drive safe. Burn Safe. Take care. Take precautions. Enjoy life.
