Weston's Warriors

Joe and I were so excited when we found out we were pregnant. We moved back to Tupper Lake, we got an apartment and both found jobs we really like.

Then at about 24 weeks I began not feeling well. The doctors watched my progress, but I continued to decline and be in pain.

On March 23rd I was admitted to the hospital. I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia. What that means is I had really high blood pressure,  high levels of protein in my urine, and in just one week I began having trouble with my kidneys and liver. I began having bad headaches, stomach pain, trouble breathing, nausea and vomiting. Since I was only 27 weeks, they transferred me from our hospital  in Tupper Lake to a better neonatal hospital in Burlington, Vermont. Unfortunately it's 3 hours from our house.

On March 30th they transferred me to labor & delivery, because my heart rate was too high, and I was dehydrated. The pain was too much. They started me on a 12 hour course of magnesium to help prevent me, and the baby from any brain bleeds. They also gave "us" some steroid injections to help his little lungs develop.

A team of doctors and lot's of nurses did everything they could to help my pain, and help our little baby develop more, but by 8pm on March 31st they had to deliver him C-section.

Our precious little boy was born at 2.4 pounds and 13.38 inches long. His name is Weston Lee Dillon. He is beautiful. He has remained stable and is able to breath on his own. This is amazing! We hope and pray this continues, but he is very small, so they are monitoring him closely.

Being born 11 weeks premature, Weston will remain in the NICU here in Vermont until his expected due date of June 18th.  I am also still being monitored, and am slowly showing improvements.

Joe and I are asking for your help. Our home is in New York, 3 hours away. Joe is new to his job and doesn't have any accrued time-off left. He will be traveling back and fourth, and I will be staying here in town. I will be in a hotel or possibly get into the Ronald McDonald house. But, we need your support in making ends meet during these next 2 to 3 months. With lodging, gas, ferry rides, tolls, food and everything here in Vermont, all while also making ends meet at home in Tupper Lake. This is going to be a very expensive few months. BUT,  we are super excited to be a new mommy and daddy! Joe and I want the best for our son, and can't wait until we are all home together.

We'd like to thank you for taking the time to read about our journey, and share in the next part of our journey with Weston.  Any help is appreciated, and we'll post updates on Weston's progress. He is a fighter, and is strong, so we are very hopeful for a long, healthy life as a family!
