West Virginia progressive volunteer team
West Virginia has Progressive Women representing the Democratic ticket in ALL 4 Congressional races (3 House, 1 Senate). These candidates all support Medicare For All and the Green New Deal. None of them are getting any help from the establishment of the Democratic Party (DNC/DCCC).
These seats can be won with boots on the ground, so I’m taking a team to WV and we are going to spend 6 full days knocking doors for Paula Jean Swearengin and the House candidates (Natalie Cline WV-01, Cathy Kunkel WV-02, Hilary Turner WV-03)
We plan to fly in to Charleston on Sept 8 and back out on Sept 15, and we will go wherever the campaigns need us most. Not only that, we are working on getting teams from other states there also.
We have to. We need to win some of these seats. Winning a WV Senate seat with a progressive woman, and with no establishment help means that we don’t have to accept Joe Manchin anymore. It means the establishment is wrong about what are winnable races.
The Dem establishment ignores places like West Virginia. Writes them off, won’t spend the time or money. But look what happened in 2016. Bernie won every county in WV in the caucus. He showed up inMcDowell County, one of the poorest areas of the country with the most need for healthcare, and there were thousands of people there to see him. And the teachers! The teachers went on strike in West Virginia!
West Virginia is ripe for some populist progressive seat flips, but we’ve got to get people there. This fundraising will cover the travel (flight, lodging, rental car, food)for a team of 5 for this trip.
