Headstone Repair

Donation protected
Hello friends and family!

In preparing for Dad’s headstone and placement in the cemetery, we were looking over Grandpa & Grandma Wessels’ headstone and Dallas’ marker. We noticed they are sorely in need of repair. After talking to the monument folks, and from Dean’s input, as someone who mows cemeteries, we have a plan to make the needed repairs to keep their monuments looking great for years and years to come. We are asking family members to contribute to the cost, if you would like, to help in making this possible.

The following describes the issue with each marker/headstone and a solution, for each, to ensure long lasting durability to our loved grandparents’ and uncle’s marker/headstone (description located under each picture):

Grandpa & Grandma’s headstone is sinking on the right side (left side in the picture)

Grandpa & Grandma’s cement pad is breaking apart where it is sinking.

The solution for longevity:
To purchase and set, a granite pad and base with attached vases-one on each side of the headstone.

With labor, the cost is $1550.

Dallas’ bronze military plaque is set in concrete, pretty flush to the ground. Resulting in mower blades damaging the plaque (see the cross in the image above). The plaque itself has not been damaged too badly yet but it will continue to worsen if nothing is done.

The solution for longevity:
To purchase a pad, base, and reset his plaque. This will replace the damaged concrete with granite and raise his plaque up from ground level which will keep the mower away from the plaque.

With labor, the cost is $950.

***If his bronze military plaque gets damaged in the process of resetting it, it will cost $1200, in addition, to replace it. We may have to raise more to cover that cost.

Your consideration in contributing to this fund, in helping to repair Grandpa & Grandma’s and Dallas’ headstones, is greatly appreciated!

We also want to thank all of our friends and family members who came to Fairbury to support us, and for all of the phone calls, posts, cards, and donations given by you in Dad’s memory. Words cannot begin to express the deepest gratitude we have from our entire family to your family.

With Much Love,
Diane, Darlene, Dean, and Dale
